Event Raises Funds for Boston Children's Hospital

Montgomery Cites Personal Reasons for Decision

BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery has withdrawn from the 12th Annual Jack Edwards Boston Children's Gala scheduled for June 15.

Montgomery, who was set to serve as the event's Honorary Chair, cited personal reasons for his decision.

The gala, presented by Berkshire Bank, raises funds for the Jack Edwards Broadcast Center at Boston Children's Hospital. The center provides support and respite for patients and their families during their stay

Since its inception, the gala has raised more than $5 million for the hospital.

A replacement for Montgomery as Honorary Chair has not yet been announced. Tony Amonte and Andy Brickley, current NESN Bruins analysts, will still co-host the event.
